The wording is easy for children to comprehend, even when the bigger scientific names are used. Battle With the Bugs follows Merrin and Pearl into their cousin, Maxs, nasal passage and ear as they discover how the body fights ear infections. But I don’t know, because she did like the farts and such in the first book! Heather Manley does an amazing job of relaying very complicated human body functions and vocabulary in a way that is easy to understand in the book Battle With the Bugs. After the narrative, we have a section with more information on the immune system, interesting facts, part on eating colorful foods to help your immune system, the ever-popular jokes, and a glossary.A couple of the jokes:Why did the student eat his homework?The teacher told him it was a piece of cake!Why did the boy blush when he opened the fridge?He saw the salad dressing!Why did the germ cross the microscope?To get to the other slide!I think this might have been my daughter’s favorite, simply because of the gross factor. The story is interesting and exciting, and no less informative. It involves hot-seating between two players by pressing 'pause' on a virtual stopwatch, similar to the way that competitive chess is played.Not surprisingly, she said the jokes were her favorite part.Following the same format as the first book, Battle of the Bugs is a great book. There is also a multiplayer mode that can be played. Different bugs are stronger and weaker versus other types of bugs so the player must combine different strategies to go to the next mission. The game develops the logical skills of the player.
However, the enemy bugs will attempt to do the same thing and can reclaim captured food. When all pieces of food bear your team's flag, the battle is won. This is achieved by positioning your bugs on the food long enough to raise a flag. The main objective of each battle is to either eradicate all of the enemy bugs or 'capture' every piece of food on the battlefield. The player must navigate their bugs, each with special skills, and engage the enemies’ bugs. The battlefields are common household places such as the kitchen floor or the backyard. The game details a war of one group of insects battling against another. A PlayStation port was published in Japan in 1997.
